Superpower

A sweet, apple-like scent and a golden color that carry into the oil it's steeped in.

Chamomile's government name is Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower. Its nickname is older than it looks: "chamomile" comes from the Greek for "earth apple", thanks to its scent.

Superhero or supervillain?

Superhero. Its superpower is a gentle, sweet, slightly apple-like scent, and those cheerful little daisy-like flowers.

What it does in my skincare

I steep dried chamomile flowers in oil to infuse it. The oil picks up a golden tint and a soft herbal scent, much lighter than an essential oil, and it feels just like the oil it started as. In soap, the flowers themselves tend to turn brown over time.

Where you’ll find it

In 2 things I make.

Usually seen with french green clay, celery powder, chlorella and green tea.

Don’t judge an ingredient by its government name. Judge it by the science.
