Your Stairway Lies on the Whispering Wind

I went online to see the headstone choices because I knew that when we walked in and I had to tell someone that we were looking for a headstone for our daughter, I would lose it. I needed a plan, or at least a little direction before we attempted this.
I fell in love with a stone in the shape of a tilted heart. It was perfect and I knew it would look beautiful in black granite. This was feeling doable.
As we walked around looking for the display stone of the tilted heart I'd seen online, a woman approached us asking if she could help. I pulled up the picture of the stone online and she told us that the angle of the picture made the heart look tilted. She brought us over to a very pretty stone that was a plain, upright heart. After looking around, we agreed on this one and after looking at stone options available for it, we agreed on a very pretty "cloud grey" color. It wasn't what we had in mind but we were happy with our choice.
The woman then began showing us images that we could have engraved on the stone. "You can choose something to showcase your loved one's hobbies or personality", she said. I looked through the book a bit before asking if there was anything specific we could look at for an infant. She went to the back to retrieve a book for us but when she returned she said "I don't know if you'd be interested in this but we had a couple purchase a stone that they aren't able to use. They didn't realize it's an infant stone. If you're interested, I can show it to you."
We followed her into the back room where we saw a beautiful tilted heart carved out of black granite. Ella's stone. It was perfect; just how I'd imagined. It was as if she placed it there and led us to it. Our decisions were easy after that. The image we chose for the front? A rainbow, of course. And on the back, a line from Stairway to Heaven. Your Stairway Lies on the Whispering Wind, my love.
Ella was here.
