The verdict

Superhero

Superpower

A soft floral scent and pretty petals that carry into the oils they're steeped in.

Roses need no introduction, but on a label they still use their government name, Rosa Damascena Flower. Shakespeare was right: it smells just as sweet.

Superhero or supervillain?

Superhero. Its superpower is a soft floral scent, plus petals that look lovely.

What it does in my skincare

I steep dried rose petals in oil to infuse it. An infused oil carries a gentle hint of rose, much softer than an essential oil, and it feels just like the oil it started as. Petals are also used for their look, but in soap they usually darken to brown over time.

Where you’ll find it

In 2 things I make.

Usually seen with olive oil, rose kaolin clay, himalayan salt and sea salt.

Don’t judge an ingredient by its government name. Judge it by the science.
