Sea salt

The verdict

Superhero

Superpower

Salt from evaporated seawater: mostly sodium chloride, with small amounts of other minerals from the sea.

Sea salt's government name is Maris Sal. That's Latin for "salt of the sea," so for once the government name is just the nickname in a fancier outfit.

Superhero or supervillain?

Superhero. Its superpower is simplicity. It's seawater with the water taken out.

What it does in my bath soaks

Sea salt is one of the base salts in my bath soaks. It dissolves in warm bath water and gives the soak its body, alongside the other salts and botanicals.

Where you’ll find it

In 2 things I make.

Usually seen with himalayan salt, epsom salt, magnesium oil and dried grapefruit.

Don’t judge an ingredient by its government name. Judge it by the science.
